It is not easy to decide to change. But if it is for the better, just change. I think the fear of losing friends is one of the most significant hindrances. You will not develop if you do not change friends. Forget them, and you will lose your old habits.
Family and friends define us, and if we keep being loyal to them, we will be like them always. But if we do not like our current self and have the desired self, it is within our right and power to become who we wish to be. This will take sacrifice. Audit our circle of family and friends and see who deserves to be close to us. I see no harm in distancing ourselves from certain characters. It is just a matter of facing our fears. It does not matter how close someone is to you. If they cannot make your life better, leave them behind. Who knows, they have been waiting for you to create the path. Then they will be inspired to also change.
